A portrait, a name, and a collapse of identity, Chapter Seventeen is where the mystery finally turns inward.
Inside the abandoned Robinson Estate, Michelle, Maryanne, Jaxxon, Holi, and Andy push deeper into the archives, searching for the truth behind the message hidden on the back of the portrait: “Follow Stephanie Brewster.” What they find is not just a clue, it’s a fracture in reality.
As the estate’s active deterrence system begins to fail and twilights gather outside, Holi uncovers a digital photograph buried in the Robinson family records. The woman in the image is unmistakably Maryanne, but the name attached is Angela Cartwright, a university student connected to Jaxxon’s ancestor, Jason Robinson.
Moments later, Maryanne discovers a laminated article from NanTech Industries, dated 2033. The woman in the photo is again her, but this time she’s identified as Stephanie Brewster.
Three names. Three lives. One woman.
The revelation hits hard: Maryanne Kendricks, Angela Cartwright, and Stephanie Brewster are not separate identities, they are layers of the same person, buried across time, missions, and memory.
But the estate doesn’t give them time to process. The deterrence collapses. Twilights breach the house. Andy fights to protect them and is torn apart. Michelle is separated from the others and forced into a desperate sprint through the dark basement, reliving childhood trauma as she fights her way into the armoury.
When the power returns, the horror deepens: the twilights she killed are no longer monsters—they’ve reverted to human form. Michelle collects blood samples, shaken by the impossible transformation.
Reuniting upstairs, the group barely has time to breathe before Detective Wayne calls with a warning: AASID bots and a second wave of twilights are inbound. They flee by drone, escaping the estate by seconds.
But the portrait’s message still hangs in the air.
To follow Stephanie Brewster, they must go where her past leads, NanTech. And the only place to find those records is the New Mayne City Archives, deep inside an agency‑controlled precinct.
Michelle knows it’s a death trap. Maryanne knows it’s the only path to her identity. And Holi confirms a rooftop access point that might, just might, get them inside.
Chapter Seventeen is the moment the mystery stops being external. It becomes personal. And the question is no longer what happened to Maryanne.
It’s who she truly is.
